One of Willow Bend Academy’s major goals for the 2014-15 school year is that of utilization of recent technological advancements.
We are migrating to Microsoft’s Office 365 in order to:
- Provide parents with instant access to their students’ grades, goals, and academic progress.
- Consistent, two-way communication among students, parents, teachers and staff.
- Accessibility online, everywhere, on any device, anytime.
Our intention is that Willow Bend Academy’s utilization of Office 365 will extend the reach of our classroom and empower parents to more actively facilitate success for their students.
The crux of facilitating student success is a critical piece of communication: the WBA Progress Report. We recently redesigned our Progress Report to project precisely the number of units each student needs to master, both weekly and monthly, in order to complete their individualized academic goals for the year. It is updated daily and will be published for parental review on our Parent Portal website via Office 365, as soon as the portal’s development is completed.
Our Lewisville campus has pioneered this project and the revised September WBA Progress Reports were sent to parents. The Plano campus is currently transferring records to Office 365 and will have the new reports available to parents soon.
The next step in the progression is to publish the Parent Portal website. This will allow parents instant access to the progress report, and improved communication with teachers and staff. Technical difficulties have proven to make this project more intensive and time-consuming than originally scheduled, but we hope to deploy it in the coming weeks.
