Private Middle School (Grades 4-8)

Willow Bend Academy is a private middle school and high school in Plano, TX and Lewisville, TX. On-campus study for middle school students at Willow Bend Academy differs from on-campus study at most other schools in a number of ways. First, each student works at his or her own pace at an individual workstation rather than sitting in a “lecture-style” classroom. This helps to reduce the level of distraction from other things going on in the room. Then, where most classrooms have a student to teacher ratio of 22-25:1, we maintain our ratio at 8:1. On a given day, most students will spend at least 20 – 25 minutes in face-to-face dialog with their teacher. This allows our teachers to be much more aware of the needs and progress of each student, and to be more available for questions and assistance. Finally, students attend on-campus for four hours each weekday rather than the traditional six or seven. This works because we concentrate on academics. With a shorter day, students who wish to pursue those activities are able to do so with our affiliate programs or other approved non-school programs. Some students even begin careers during this time.

International Students

Willow Bend Academy’s private middle school is authorized to issue a Certificate of Eligibility Form (I-20). In a traditional school, few (if any) modifications are made for a lack of English language proficiency, so students struggle to understand lectures and assignments. At Willow Bend Academy, international students who struggle with English will complete an English as a Second Language (ESL) course, and both the regular teachers and the ESL teachers are trained to ensure that the course material and assignments are understood by the students. If your student already has an F-1 Visa through another school, it can be transferred to Willow Bend Academy.
