Sarah Lawrence College, a small Liberal Arts college in New York, has been identified as one of America’s top 100 Liberal Arts colleges by Princeton Review, Forbes, and U.S. News and World Report publications.
So why would the college send a recruiter to Willow Bend Academy? Our goals for our students match very closely with those of Sarah Lawrence College. Sara Lawrence College focuses on developing these “critical abilities” in its students:
- To think analytically.
- To express ideas through writing.
- To exchange ideas orally.
- To work independently.
- To bring innovation to their work.
- To accept and act on criticism.
The admissions staff of the college identified Willow Bend Academy as a high school that focuses on developing similar characteristics, and sent a recruiter from New York specifically to Willow Bend Academy.
Our graduates who have shown the willingness to work diligently have been accepted to major universities such as Baylor University, Cornell University, Georgia Tech University, Louisiana State University, Ohio State University, Seaton Hall University, Southern Methodist University, Texas Christian University, Texas Tech University, University of Arkansas, University of Mississippi, University of North Texas, University of Oklahoma and University of Texas (Arlington, Austin and Dallas).
Other students have specific interests that are better developed at smaller colleges such as Belmont University (Tennessee), Berkeley School of Music (California), Bethany College (Kansas), Dallas Baptist University, Ouachita Baptist University (Arkansas), Schreiner University (Fredericksburg, TX), and Toccoa Falls University (Georgia).
Still others have chosen local schools such as Brookhaven College, Collin College, Dallas Christian College, Remington College, and Richland College while others have chosen military service or entered the workforce.
Whether students choose major universities, smaller colleges, technical schools or the workforce, their future success is enhanced by Willow Bend Academy as we direct our students to “Master Learning, Master Life.”
