“In my forty-plus years as a professional educator, I have seen students stifled by being held back waiting for the bulk of the class to be ready to move on. I have also seen students who were forced to move on before they had the foundation to do so. The concept of “individual differences” has been spoken of in graduate schools of Education for decades, but only token actions have ever been taken. In 1998 my wife and I established Willow Bend Academy using a model that customizes each student’s curriculum to gain optimum learning. I am very fulfilled in the knowledge that I continue to have a part in enabling students to be successful regardless of their learning styles and/or differences. “The purpose of life is a life of purpose.” Willow Bend Academy serves a fantastic purpose.”

Dr. Peter Berner holds a Masters of Divinity from Palmer Theological Seminary and a Ph.D. in Pharmacology and Cell Biophysics from University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. He also has over thirty years of teaching experience at both high school and college levels.
“I have been in education and ministry for over 30 years. During those 30 years, I have taught at the graduate level, undergraduate level, and secondary level. I chose to work at Willow Bend Academy for a variety of reasons. Willow Bend Academy has a strong commitment to the student as a unique individual. What that means is that the student is not fenced in and confined to a cookie-cutter curriculum. Rather, the curriculum is tailored to work for the unique needs of the student. Secondly, it is an ever-present joy to work with not only a highly qualified faculty, but a faculty that is committed to the care of the hearts of each student.”

“It is such a blessing to work at a school where all the staff are Christians. We come together every morning to begin the day with prayer. I love my position as owner and CFO; at WBA I am able to combine my passions for accounting and kids. My favorite part of each day is seeing the kids get excited about learning and accomplishing their goals.”
